PRICES OF BREAD SHOT UP BY 20% INCREMENT DUE TO CEDI DEPRECIATION- KFUA
According to them the current Cedi depreciation affected the flour prices and the various ingredients which speed up the production of Bread to the general public for Final consumption.
Addressing the press conference today by Naana Esumang who is the General secretary indicated that, the cost of flour has gone up by seventy percent 70% over the last five months.
Stressing that Just last year November ,2018 a bag of flour sold at Ghs110.00 has went up to Ghs165.00 .
The present price of sugar now sell at Ghs 185.00 instead of Ghs 120.00 previously and margarine now also sell at Ghs180.00.
She added that flour products are very important in national food items eaten by almost everybody ,therefore an increase in flour products affect every home both rich and poor at the same time ,henceforth the government should take immediate measures that can stabilize dollar against the Cedi depreciation in other to help flour producers to also reduce the price of flour.
She revealed that the new prices depend on the size of the bread consumer demand “ie ghs3.00 bread will now sell at retail price Ghs 5.00 ,Ghs5.00 to Ghs7.00 ,Ghs 6.00 to Ghs 8.00 etc.”
Moreover some of the members of association who shared their thought to Koowaa.com over the challenges that has engulfed their business cautioned the public against flour products (bread) produce with fake baking ingredients.
