A/R: SPORADIC GUNSHOT CAUSES FEAR AND PANIC TO AKWABOA COMMUNITY


Residents of Akwaboa in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District in the Ashanti region have fled their homes into the bush, following sporadic gunshots in the area.
Reports reaching Koowaa.com news indicate that the shooting which started around 7pm lasted for well over five hours.

Although only one person sustain severe injured when he was kiddnaped by some suspected landguards brought by the Chief of Akwaboa Nana Brefo Appau III which the residents says they are now living in fear. As of the time of the gunshots, no security personnel (police or military) were seen around although the area looks like a cemetery.

“A resident of Akwaboa, who spoke to Koowaa.com from his hideout, said families have run away from their homes, women and children were so scared. We do not know who these gunmen were and they just started shooting at random accompanied by some family members of the chief. Those who did the shooting are not from the Akwaboa, they was hired by the chief and they just came from nowhere and started shooting. There was no police officer around, they have destroyed all our street lights making the whole community total darkness and this is not right at all.This is very unfortunate and people don’t know what to do, an old woman said with tears.”

Koowaa.com reported that, there were only women and children seen in the community and all the men in the community has fled to bushes and other nearby villages to seek refugeed.

The District Chief Executive Hon Rebecca Yeboah after meeting the chief of Akwaboa said, she will send some police officers to protect the remaining residents. She added that, her outfit will brought the perpetrators to book and find a lasting solution to the problem.
Nana Brefo Appau III, the chief of Akwaboa refused to talk to the media saying that he has reported the case the police.
