Ghana Cocoa Board(COCOBOD) in collaboration with the Ghana Tourism Authority and stakeholders of the cocoa industry has launched this year’s chocolate day here in Accra.

The event which is been celebrate 14th February every year has been christened National chocolate day to create the awareness on chocolate consumption in particular and cocoa in general.

Speaking at the launch, on behalf of the Chief Executive, Deputy Chief Executive in Charge of Operation, Mr Emmanuel A. Opoku said COCOBOD will continue to partner relevant stakeholders to intensify awareness creation on the health and nutritional benefits of Cocoa – the main ingredient for making chocolates.

“Cocoa provides most powerful dietary anti – oxidants,reduces blood pressure, delays ageing, fights dental decay, has aphrodisiac properties among others which make chocolate a healthy food for both the young and old” he said.

He is of the view that this year theme “My Chocolate Experience” will be appropriate, especially for COCOBOD considering their drive in promoting chocolate and generic consumption of cocoa in Ghana and the rest of the world.
