Government has presented a cheque of 250,000.00 to each of the family of the 7 zongo men who were killed at Manso-Nkwanta in the Ashanti Region last year.

The Minister for Inner City and Zongo Development, Hon Mustpha Hamid presenting the cheque on Thursday at Kumasi Central Mosque,he said the presentation was to fulfilled the promise that the President of the Republic Ghana H.E Akufo Addo made to compensate the bereaved families.

He charged Muslim chiefs to rule out vigilantism in the Zongo communities and put the young ones on the right path.

The Minister expressed worried about how the Zongo communities in the country are also tag as violence people.

Nasiru Ibrahim Gardenboi,a brother of Musah Siedu,one of the deceased, said the move will help the bereaved families to take full responsible of the awards that the deceased brothers left over.

He called on government to see the prosecution of the police officers who has been left interdicted.

The Ashanti Regional Chief Imam,Sheikh Abdul Mumim thanked the President for fulfilling his promised.

He said,the President action to curtailed vigilantism in the country is a good idea and pledge their support to the move.

“We will preach against vigilantism in our communities”
