DCE CALLS FOR PEACE AND HARMONY TO RESOLVE TEETHING PROBLEMS AMONG GHANAIANS
The District Chief Executive of Afigya Kwabre South Hon. Adu – Poku Christian has called on Ghanaians to exercise Peace and harmony in order to eliminate teething problems of Ghana at 62 years which are still not over.
According to him ,we (Ghanaians) inheriting the legacy of the founders of Ghana must ask ourselves about what Ghanaians can do to keep the flame that was lit 62 years ago burning in an environment of peace ,unity ,and stability.
He indicates that Ghanaians feel inspired by the theme for this year’s Independent Anniversary Celebration: ” Celebration Peace and Unity “.
This is to affirm the Peace and unity prevailing at Dagbon and its environment ,hence the decision of the president to moved the celebration of this year’s independent anniversary to Tamale to consolidate this land mark achievement.
He said National Unity and peace is an absolutely critical pre -requisite to any country’s development. As a Nation ,we cannot make any meaningful strides in our our quest for national development without peace and unity .
” History tells us that conflicts have been a key player in the erosion of development and growth. And that that national Unity and political stability has been the building blocks of economy growth and development for nations who have been made it to the top” ,said DCE .
Hon.Adu- Poku Christian disclosed that the President His Excellency ,Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo is by this example entreating all Ghanaians especially those in Afigya Kwabre South to always build the blocks of peace and unity to help fastrack the developmental Agenda of the District.
Speaking to Koowaa.com during 62nd independent anniversary Parade at Kodie the district capital in the Afigya Kwabre South District ,we must all therefore collectively work together irrespective of our political, religious, or ethnic differences in order to consolidate the gains made over the years to make Ghana a successful country.
He also urged students that ,independence therefore imposes on students the obligation to take their studies seriously and to work hard with a deep sense of devotion to justify the investment the country and parents are making towards education.
He made mentioned that the government led by H.E Nana Akuffo Addo has decentralized scholarship scheme for needy but brilliant tertiary students including technical tertiary schools means that needy but brilliant students can now go to the university, polytechnic, nursing training college ,teacher training college, etc and receive support from the central government through the District Assembly.
He added that the Assembly ,and for that matter government would continue with our quest to provide school infrastructure and create the necessary environment for effective teaching and learning.
He advised the students to be more discipline,obedient and law- abiding towards their School authorities instructions.
