MINORITY DEMANDS A NEW BUDGET TO REDEEM NATION FROM WORSENING ECONOMIC PERFORMANCE

The Minority caucus of Parliament has demanded the presentation of a new budget by the government of President Akuffo Addo to address the serious economic problems caused by the sharp fall in the value of the Cedi . According to the minority the poor performance of the economy has led to businesses suffocating, job losses and declining investor confidence in the economy .

Addressing the press on the state of Ghana’s economy at Parliament House today , the Minority Ranking Member on Finance Hon Ato Forson urged government to scrap the Special Import Levy which is creating a serious challenge to importers.

Hon Ato Forson also urged government to be honest with the people about the true state of the economy and stop giving false hope to the people.

On the way forward the Minority caucus urged government to take steps to halt the high dependence of the economy on import .

The Minority caucus finally appealed to President Akuffo Addo and his Vice Alhaji Dr Mamoud Bawumia to demonstrate good leadership to save the Nation from further economic decline.
