Ghana National Association of Cocoa Famers have been inaugurated today Friday 22nd February 2019 at Kumasi Culture center with the theme Sustainable Cocoa Farming , Panacea for Declined Cocoa production in Ghana.

The aim of the association is to bring the various Cocoa farmers in the country together Famers to collaborate and put proper measures in place, deliberate on essential measures to resolve problems associated with Cocoa farmers in the country.

Addressing the press during the program, the President for the association Mr Anane Boateng said government for some years now have neglected cocoa farmers in the country based on decision making and policies implementation.

He said government has over – controlled cocoa farmers in the country for quite a long time now and the association needs to ensure that the welfare of the people are also taking into reasonable consideration.

Commenting on some of their challenges ,Mr Boateng said there are no special pension plan for cocoa farmers in the country especially insurance covers on hospitals bills .

He said government suppose to provide free fertilizer and other items to Farmers but yet the farmers buy fertilizers at high cost which is very alarming .

According to him the association is on course to provide pension scheme to its members as part of benefits from the association.

Again, he said the association has partner with SSNIT to provide some modalities which will seek mutual health care to its members .

He further disclosed that the association is training some people to monitor the activities of cocoa purchasing agents who steals from farmers with their weighing scale.

He also called cocoa farmers who are not yet part of the association to register for their on good .
